What do I do if I receive a shortage on our shipment?

Checking your freight for shortages or visible damage is an important part of standard receiving processes. If you should encounter loss or damage, notify your driver and follow these steps:

  • For shortages: If you think part of your shipment is missing, count the pieces and check the number against what is indicated on the delivery receipt. Write a precise note describing the shortage on both your copy and Totalline's copy of the freight bill.
  • Tracing a shortage: To trace a shipment shortage, contact the Customer Service (OS&D) team at your local Totalline Transport terminal. The customer representative will work to locate the shortage. Before you call ensure that the following information is readily available:
    • Probill Number
    • Billing date
    • Names & Addresses of shipper & consignee
    • Number of pieces in the shipment
    • Number of pieces missing
    • Delivery date
    • Complete description of missing pieces including color, size, etc.
    • Any part or serial numbers on the goods
