Technology is a vital and integral part of our business. It is a crucial element in realizing our continued growth. We have, and will continue, to invest in state-of-the-art technology to meet our customers' needs. We are moving quickly onto the information highway at a 'Premier Service' pace.
Totalline's IT (Information Technology) department uses an application that is based on a solid, secure Unix platform that enables us to host a fully integrated system. Our IT capabilities include:
Operating within a network environment where all of our branches are linked on-line.
Image scanning of documents. This has been in place since early 2001. Customers can access scanned copies of Bills of Lading and Proof of Deliveries simply by e-mailing or faxing our customer service department. Representatives will promptly e-mail or fax the electronically scanned proof of deliveries back to the customer.
We have EDI capability.
Manifests are produced electronically. Customers are able to trace shipments with our customer service representatives by any one of the following methods: by shipment date, consignee, bill of lading number, or purchase order number.
Our warehousing software system efficiently manages inventory control, order entry, and tracks the location of products in our warehouses. We have recently added the capability of bar code scanning of goods shipped and received at our Calgary terminal.
Our TLC Logistics division has on-line dispatch. Totalline is scheduled to offer this same service in 2002.
Enhanced electronic communication tools are being developed between our customers, drivers and staff, and will be integrated into our system in the near future. Our goal is to streamline information in order to access data more quickly and efficiently. These enhancements will lead to more effective and productive services for all parties involved. We are continually striving to better our services. This effort is realized in our continued commitment to assess and improve our IT capabilities.
